Xiaomi confirms dual-cams on the Mi 6 with an unusual teaser

UPDATE: Xiaomi's Mi 6 will get some neat upgrades, with the camera being a highlight

As expected, Xiaomi is launching the successor to the Mi 5 soon and from leaked specs, it looks fairly attractive.

UPDATE 13/4/2017: Xiaomi's started its usual round of launch teasers, and GizmoChina just reported on the teaser it did for the Mi 6 on Weibo is slightly unusual. It features comedians in Chinese period costumes, extolling the upcoming upgrades to the Mi 6 - including dual cameras. Word is that the same sensor on the Mi 5S, the Sony IMX378 will make a return so it looks like the photography capabilities on the Mi 6 will be more than decent.

You can watch the video teaser on Weibo here, but do note that it's in Mandarin Chinese without subtitles

Flagship grade

The specs for the Xiaomi Mi 6 were seen on GFXBench, though the model was referred to as the Xiaomi Sagit.

It is running on a Snapdragon 835 chipset - pretty much an indicator that it's flagship-grade. The phone won't be a huge phablet, though, with a 5.1in Full HD display. As for RAM, it might come with either 4GB or 6GB with likely storage options of 64GB and 128GB, keeping to Xiaomi's usual playbook.

Camera-wise, Xiaomi has a 12MP rear camera with 4K recording as well as an 8MP front camera that also supports 4K video recording.

The phone will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat, skinned of course with the latest MIUI.

Pricing is expected to be around RMB1999 (RM1285) and could go up to RMB2699 (RM1735) for the highest spec version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.\
