Huawei's just launched the Maimang 6 (yeah we don't get the name either) in China and showed off a dual-cam setup in both the front and rear. This is particularly significant as the Huawei Mate 10 Lite was rumoured to have the setup as well as the Nova 2i launching in Malaysia tomorrow. Conclusion: they're all the same phone, just with a bizarre naming tactic.
UPDATE 27/09/2017: It's official - the Maimang 6 is the Nova 2i and the price is a surprising RM1299. It will be available in stores as well as from telcos from 13 October onwards, with Huawei also throwing in a promo early bird promotion gift (worth RM499) comprising a smartphone ring holder, headphones and of course, a selfie stick.
It's got a very interesting combo of specs - with a midrange Kirin 659 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage a 3340mAh battery as well as a 5.9in Full HD display. The display, which also features 2.5D curved glass will be of most interest as it's the first time Huawei's shown off a phone with a near-bezelless display.
The phone will also feature a a 13MP/2MP dual camera combo in front with the rear combo being 16MP/2MP instead. It sounds pretty much like the Huawei Mate 10 Lite we reported on yesterday, especially with the confirmed blue, gold and black colours.
As for the pricing, the phone starts from RMB2399 (RM1520) but Mdroid reported a teaser photo claiming the phone might cost as low as RM1299 in Malaysia. That'll be interesting if true but since the launch in Malaysia is happening tomorrow, we'll find out then and keep you updated.
