The HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 All-in-One Printer can be aptly described as, well, and AiO printer. This means that it can function as a printer, copier, scanner and a fax machine (if you’re still using one of those…). While I won’t cover the full extent of the printer’s features and functionalities in this review, I will be touching on the basics of why I think this is the most sensible model for those looking to buy a printer for home or small office use.

What to know

First off, the multi-functional AiO features would have all your printing and copying needs covered. But all first-time users must understand that the OfficeJet Pro 9020 uses a set of HP 965 series Original Ink Advantage Cartridges (Black, Cyan, Magento, Yellow), which are pigment-based inks. This also means there’s a specific page yield, which you need to be aware of. Anyway, a set of cartridges would allow you to print about 700 pages in colour OR up to 1000 pages in monotone.

Great print quality

Talking about inks and printing, I found that the coloured print-outs do not smudge when come into contact with water and this is such a huge plus point. This is largely thanks to the HP original pigment-based inks. But the most important thing of any printer is still the print quality. Judging by the sample prints, I like the colour reproduction and accuracy, even via the copy function. However, there is a slight pixelation to the prints, which is to be expected as the OfficeJet Pro 9020 is still an inkjet printer.

For wireless connectivity, the OfficeJet Pro 9020 works great. While wireless printers aren’t exactly a new thing, the HP Smart APP makes connecting to the printer more simple and “seamless”. With that, you can easily download documents to your device and print it out through the app, place the printer at strategic locations such as common areas, and render the need for manual button presses obsolete.

Features to look out for

Other features that I like is a 2.65-inch touch screen panel, which makes navigating through the functions a breeze just like you would with a smart device. Additionally, having a USB port where you can scan directly to and print directly from a USB device is also quite a convenient feature for those who are unable to connect wirelessly.

Right out of the box, you will get 1 unit of the OfficeJet Pro 9020 AiO printer itself, a complete set of cartridges (Black, Magento, Cyan and Yellow), 1 power cord and the usual documents (warranty and user guides).

Final Verdict

In conclusion, I believe that for the price of RM1259, the OfficeJet Pro 9020 AiO printer is a reasonable All-in-One that has wireless connectivity, smart device support through a polished app and literally everything you would need and want from a printer that can also copy and scan (and fax should you need it). The print-outs are of good quality and won’t smudge. Unless you’re going for a laser printer, the OfficeJet Pro 9020 AiO would definitely suffice for your home or small office use.
