Microsoft’s Surface 2 is finally landing in Malaysia from 14th March. We almost gave up hope on ever seeing it here since it was announced and launched four months ago.
The successor to Microsoft’s first in-house Windows tablet is loaded with the latest Windows 8.1 RT. Yes, RT, so you’re going to hit some roadblocks again with some of your favourite apps that refuse to run on RT.
The tablet’s innards are ripped out and replaced with a faster Nvidia Tegra 4 1.7GHz processor to make it a smooth criminal. It comes in two storage variants at 32GB and 64GB, free Skype to landline calls for a year, unlimited Skype Wi-Fi at more than 2 million hot spots worldwide and if that isn’t enough for the hoarder in you, you also get 200GB of OneDrive storage. Absolutely free, for two years.
The Surface 2 is priced at RM1399 for the 32GB version and RM1,699 for its 64GB version. As for the new accesories, the Touch Cover 2 is priced at RM379, while the Type Cover 2 has a sticker price of RM409.
At the same time, Microsoft also revised prices of the first generation Surface products, with the original Surface RT 64GB version now has a sticker price of RM1,199 while the Surface Pro is now at RM1,889.
