With the rise of smartwatches and fitness watches in the market, it's to be expected that we get something from the G-SHOCK series as well. As such, Casio revealed the GBD-H1000, a watch equipped with a heart rate monitor and GPS functionality.
The GBD-H1000 has a five-sensor function; an optical sensor that can measure heart rate by detecting the blood flow under the skin, a triple sensor that measures altitude/barometric pressure, compass bearing, and temperature, and an acceleration sensor that measures step count and distance traveled, the new watch comes with GPS functionality that acquires location information.
You can then get a report of the measured data through a dedicated app on your smartphone to take note of their activities throughout the day, as well as calories burned and logged travel. It also has a Vo2 MAX to continuously monitor your body's oxygen level too.
With the GPS function, not only do you get to track your route and exercise travelled, distance and all, the device can also receive GPS signals to adjust watch time, date, and time zone. So if you're the type to travel, this device sounds really handy.
Being a fitness watch, you will also get notifications on the device to alert you of calls and messages.
In terms of build, the watch has a high-definition, memory-in-pixel (MIP) LCD with high-contrast, a bezel configuration that is easy to operate even without looking at the buttons, large non-slip buttons, a curved back cover that carefully considers the back of the hand, and a soft urethane band.
While it does come with the usual USB charging, the device is also capable of solar charging, be it artificial or natural. Perfect for daily use. Lastly, with it being a G-SHOCK watch, you can expect it to be a tough device as it is shock resistant, vibration resistant, as well as 20 bar water resistant.
The Casio G-Shock GBD-H1000 series is set to be available in Malaysia this May 2020 with no price revealed yet. It will come in four colours: black and white, black, red, and black and red. You can find out more about the device on their official website.
