Astro has just launched the Astro Ultra Box which offers features including 4K UHD, Cloud Recording and even offers a fresh new user interface that is seamless across device screens for Astro GO users. This new interface promises improved content recommendations based on viewing history, play from start functions and the ability to record multiple shows at the same time. This will also enable sports fans to enjoy UEFA EURO 2020, the Premier League, Formula 1 and La Liga to be experienced in 4K UHD - a first in Malaysia.
For the Astro Cloud Recording, you can get up to 200 free hours of HD storage, and you can increase this number to 1500 hours for RM15 per month. With the multi-screen feature, you can actually pause on one screen and pick up what you're watching on another screen at the exact point of which you paused.
The Ultra Box uses a hybrid system of satellite and internet technologies as, according to Astro, satellite delivers the best 4K UHD qualities. As it works with Astro and Astro GO, it comes with the usual entertainment and broadband bundles that Astro offers. As Astro has noted that over half a million homes have 4K TV, of which 70% are Astro customers, there are two 4K UHD Astro Best channels to utilise both the Astro Ultra Box and your home's 4K TV further. If your home has a 4K TV and you would like to get this, take note that the TV also needs to be HDCP 2.2 compliant. If you only have a HD TV, you can still use the Astro Ultra Box as well.
Current Astro customers with a monthly subscription of RM100 and above can upgrade for free, though you will need to renew your contract for another 24-months. While new customers who subscribe to Astro now will pay RM99 for the installment if they subscribe to a monthly pack subscription fee of RM100 and below, while new customers above RM100 will have to pay RM199.
