The realeme Buds Air is launching today and with so many great features to look forward to, the question remains; is it really the best wireless headphone to get?
Whenever we mention wireless headphones, the biggest comparison remains the Apple AirPods. It's known as the best all rounder wireless headphones, and there's no doubt that it has become its own fashion statement as well. So if we're going to look at the realme Buds Air, we have to see how it compares to the Apple AirPods Pro.
Connectivity and sound
The main concern many will have is the quality of the headphones connection and sound quality. After all, they're wireless and could come with many issues due to that alone. Both the realme Buds Air and AirPods support Bluetooth 5.0 which ensures a stable and seamless connection, and comes with dual-mic noise cancellation to keep outside noises at bay.
They're both also equipped with deep bass and AAC code to ensure great music quality all around. All in all in terms of sound quality, they're both on equal grounds.
The biggest difference so far is that the the AirPods are powered by the Apple H1 headphone chip so you can access Siri using just your voice via the AirPods. While the realme Buds Air does require you to tap on it to access voice assistance, it comes with a low latency gaming mode of 120ms which will ensure you get a stable and fast gaming experience on your smartphone. So gamers, take note!
Playback and charging
It's all about how much music you can get out of a full charge, as well as charging in this category. In this category, it seems that the Apple AirPods Pro is a winner here as you can get about 24-25 hours of music compared to the realme Buds Air with only 17 hours. On the other hand, they both support wireless charging which is an expensive feature that thankfully an Android based wireless headphones offer and they both take roughly one and a half hours for a full charge. It's definitely on par, but the realme Buds Air falls only a little short to the AirPods Pro in this arena, which is still impressive so far.
Design and colours
Let's face it; can you even imagine the AirPods Pro being in any other colour than white? There is the possibility of there being more colours in the future, but don’t expect it now for sure. In terms of design, no doubt that the AirPods Pro has an upgraded look compared to their previous versions, and it's a lot lighter compared to the realme Buds Air.
But the realme Buds Air isn't something to ignore, it has a similar design with a charging case that comes with a multi-function button that ensures you get instant connection to your smartphone when you put it on. You can also look forward to colours of yellow and black, on top of the white also offered with the realme Buds Air, giving you more options of colours to suit your style.
Finally, we look at the price. The AirPods Pro is currently priced RM1099 which is definitely a hefty price to pay for wireless headphones. Compared to the realme Buds Air with a retail price of RM299, that’s a little over a quarter of the price of the AirPods Pro, making it the more affordable version for sure.
The AirPods Pro is definitely one of the most well known wireless headphones in the market for good reasons, but that doesn't mean it is the only one. It's good to know that for Android users, we continue to have some great options that are not only affordable, but offers just as great features as those offered by Apple. This is definitely the case with the realme Buds Air; great sound quality, wireless charging, gaming mode, and even multiple colour options, you're getting the best of wireless headphones without forking out a lot more for sure.
