Xiaomi just launched their CC Series in China, and the first phones from the line are the Mi CC9, Mi CC9e and Mi CC9 Meitu Edition. The devices aim to offer distinct features for different segments but are all focused on providing excellent selfies and large battery capacities.
The Xiaomi Mi CC9, has a Snapdragon 710 chipset paired with 6 or 8 GB RAM and 64/128GB storage expandable via microSD. Around the back of the device, it has a triple camera setup with a 48MP F/1.8 main camera, 8MP ultrawide unit and a 2MP depth sensor.
The display features a 1080 x 2340 resolution screen with a waterdrop notch and UD fingerprint scanner. The handset will debut with the new Mimoji animated avatars and a dedicated AI portrait mode for low light scenarios on the front camera. The Mi CC9 features a dual-glass design with a metal frame in the middle. The back has an interesting light refracting finish which shifts colour when hit by the light in certain angles.
Unsurprisingly, the phone runs on Android Pie with MIUI 10 on top. The battery comes in at 4,030mAh and supports 18W fast charging, and other notable features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC support and an IR port.
The Xiaomi Mi CC9 will be up for pre-orders later today while official sales start on 5 July 2019. It will be available in White, Blue and Black variants with more colour options expected in the future. Pricing starts at approx MYR 1,083 for the 6GB/64GB model and goes up to MYR 1,203 for the 6GB/128GB variant.
The second device in the CC line is the CC9e. The “e” here stands for Essential Edition and Xiaomi claims it offers all the major functions of the regular CC9 in a smaller form factor. The cameras on the front and back are the same as its larger counterpart but the display is downscaled to 6 inches and has a 1560 x 720 resolution instead. It retains the AMOLED technology and UD fingerprint sensor powered by the same 4,030mAh battery.
One major difference is in the chipset department where the CC9e runs the brand new Snapdragon 665. This one is going to be available in 4GB/64GB, 6GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB versions starting at approx MYR 782 and topping out at around MYR 962.
Mi CC9 Meitu Edition
Last we have the Xiaomi CC9 Meitu Edition which is identical to the regular CC9 but features some camera tweaks courtesy of the Meitu team, which Xiaomi acquired in late 2018. The device is targeted at vloggers with AI low light portrait mode, movie portrait and full body beauty filters. There is also a special vlog mode equipped with video stabilisation. The rest of the specs are identical to the regular CC9 with the Snapdragon 710 SoC being paired with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
The Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Edition will set buyers back around MYR 1,564 and will come in a special pearl white colourway.
