Samsung’s latest smartphones make a stunning couple. Rocking an Infinity Display, the front of the phone appears bezel-less on the sides. Both upper and lower bezels significantly shaved down thanks to the fingerprint sensor being moved to the back, making a whopping 83% of the phone pure AMOLED bliss to look at.
There’s a 12MP F1.7 Dual Pixel camera on the back while the front is an improved 8MP affair. The camera app also comes with fun animated filters to plaster all over your selfies, just the way millennials like it.
Speaking of software, have you met Bixby? Press and hold the dedicated button to summon the new smart assistant. Not only will it carry out the usual voice commands, it can also identify objects via the camera, shop for similar items and learn your behaviour to cater to your needs better.
Running TouchWiz based on Android 7.0, the phone will also come with neat new biometric features like using facial recognition to unlock your phone and using Samsung Pay with the iris scanner. You can also track your health better with the improved Samsung Health app. Got a home stuffed to the rafters with smart products? The new Samsung Connect app will help you rule them all with your phone.
Under the hood lies Samsung’s own octa-core Exynos chipset, built on a 10nm process for more power and better efficiency and 4GB RAM. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ share identical specs except for physical and battery size. The Galaxy S8 measures in at 5.8in with a 3000mAh battery while the Galaxy S8+ rings in at 6.2in with a 3500mAh battery. Rated IP68 water and dust resistant, they both come in only one flavour of 64GB with the microSD slot supporting up to 256GB more room.
