RM500,000 for a local Dota 2 tournament? It's real

All those hours cursing at people on Dota 2 might actually be worth it

As eSports becomes bigger in Malaysia, of course the prize pool for competitions would increase as well. Enter the Malaysia eSports League (MESL) with a mighty enticing RM500000 prize pool.

Mineski Events Team is organising the tournament, which will kick off 2 September. There will be three stages: qualifiers, group, and playoffs. All these will culminate in the grand final in February 2018.

The grand prize is RM150000, sponsored by U Mobile who will add an extra RM50000 if players happen to be active U Mobile users. The first runner up will win RM50000 and the second and third runner ups will each win RM20000.

While the league is open to all locals, foreign players will be allowed to play provided at least three Malaysians are in the team.

Besides cash prizes, the games will be streamed (group stage onwards) on Twitch as well as Astro's eGG Network channel 808.
