New Windows 10 Insider build lets you try Timeline

Easily return to your past apps when you need to

Microsoft’s Timeline feature hasn’t become official yet, but it’s finally available to try on the latest Insider build.

Quick resuming of activities

To give it a go, you need to sign up to Microsoft’s Insider program, which offers you access to this version, Build 1073.

Timeline lets you “jump back in time to find what you were working on”, which basically means that Windows will help you resume workflows or collections of apps. Press Win+Tab, and you’ll see the feature, which will show snapshots of the apps you were using at set points of time. Use the search bar to find what you need or just press See All for everything.

You can also connect to your mobile devices, but only if you’re using the Edge mobile browser, Cortana or other Microsoft apps. The build also has a split touch keyboard and a new Edge theme, as well as other improvements across the board including tweaks to the settings. Want to try it out? Head over to the Microsoft Insider page - but remember to backup your computer first.
