While it seems BlackBerry will soon be releasing an Android device, before that it seems it will bring a Passport variant to the Malaysian market.
Sharp eyes spotted a newly SIRIM-certified device with the model number SQW100-1. The specs are pretty decent - a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, a generous 3,450mAh battery capacity as well as a 13MP camera. It will probably run the BlackBerry OS 10.3.2 though getting people to warm up to a higher-end BlackBerry model will be tough in a market where high-spec Android phones can be had for cheap.
The approval date on the certification note was July 2, with Brightstar being the certification applicant. We'll just wait for Brightstar to release official pricing soon, probably within the month.
