Huawei decided to launch three devices in Malaysia today: the Huawei Mate S, the Huawei G8 and the MediaPad M2 8.0.
The Mate S is a premium phone, as can be seen by its design which gives some of the other smartphone flagships out there some tough competition as we noted in our review. It is a svelte 7.2mm thick, with an octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch Full HD screen. The price, though, is a bit on the high side at RM2,698. Huawei's obviously wooing the crowd who would ordinarily plonk down serious cash for devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note 5.
More midmarket is the Huawei G6 with a similar sized screen, but comes with a less speedy processor in the 1.5GHz Snapdragon 615 processor, with a 13MP back camera and 5MP front shooter.
As for the MediaPad M2 8.0, it's a tablet with an 8-inch display with the same resolution as the G6, with a Kirin octa-core 2GHz 930 chipset and 2GB of RAM as well as 32GB of storage. There's also an 8MP back camera and a 2MP front camera.
Both the G6 and the MediaPad M2 8.0 will retail for RM1,499. While the smartphones are available now, the tablet will only be out mid-November.
