Google Maps now lets you book Uber rides from within the app

One app fits all?

How many apps does it take to get from point A to point B? With Google Maps, just one.

The company has updated its ride-booking services, which used to show information on ride bookings in a tab alongside your other route options of walking or taking the bus.

Fresh new look

With the update, you’ll now see the map along with a carousel of ride service providers like Uber or Grab in your area. Tapping on them will reveal the complete list of ride options, prices and even promotions.

Do everything within the app

The best part? You can book, complete and pay for an Uber ride without leaving Google Maps — even if you don’t have Uber installed on your device.

Signing into your Uber account will let you book a ride, track and connect with your driver all from within Google Maps.

Google Maps also provides information on your destination, so if you’re going to a restaurant for example, you can easily access its menu, opening hours and other useful details without having to switch tabs or open a browser.
