Let’s face it – the Facebook Messenger app wasn’t as bit a hit as what the social media conglomerate expected to be. But that doesn’t mean it’s given up on pushing out more apps and adding on to its portfolio.
Facebook’s unveiled a new app, called Facebook Groups, specifically for chat with people in well, literally your groups on Facebook. That’s because accessing groups from your mobile can be a challenge – it’s buried under the “more” section and can’t be easily navigated to.
Of course, you’ll also be able create a new group from the app itself, either from a predetermined set Facebook’s created (such as family, close friends, or teammates) or by custom making your own.
How it works
When you access the app itself, it brings up all your Facebook groups, with the ones you use most frequently placed at the top. You’ll also be able to manage memberships, view notifications, and seek new groups with the Facebook Groups Discover tab based on geography, interest, or browsing your friends’ groups.
To simplify life even more, you can set any of these group icons directly on your home screen so you don’t have to tap in and out of the app and the chat to respond to your messages – handy for those groups you communicate with more regularly.
The Facebook Groups app is now available in all countries on both the Apple App store and the Google Play Store, but you’ll still be able to access it from the main Facebook app and on desktop.
