We know it's a little early for Valetine's Day gifts and bookings suggestions, but we know some of you are already at it to avoid disappointment. So here's one for you (actually, more for your lover/partnen/spouse) - the Apple Watch.
According to GSM Arena, the Apple Watch will most likely be in stores in February, coming very close to Valentine’s Day. Its production is said to be starting sometime in January next year even though it made its debut just a few weeks ago.
If you’re questioning the delay, G for Games says it’s apparently because the Apple Watch is “an extremely ambitious project that requires a lot of investment, study, trial and error… and pushing the boundaries of the industry’s limitations”.
The leaks apparently originate from Taiwan, where mass production for the smartwatch will be done – it’s said that Taiwanese OEM, Quanta, will be making these units and is looking to employ a mass of people to populate the plant handling Apple’s smartwatch production.
Going by hearsay, that number is expected to stand at about 40,000 employees in January.
It’s unclear if this exclusive manufacturing partnership will be just restricted to Quanta or if there’s an expiration date to it. But the source mentions that some anonymous “industry analysts” have predicted that Apple might take on a second OEM if demand for the smartwatch skyrockets.
But just like all rumours, there’s no certainty as to the actual timeframe that Apple’s got planned for the smartwatch. So don’t take all you read as the absolute truth and put all your apples in one basket. Have a backup gift, just in case you don’t see the Apple Watch by then.
