There’s rent to be paid, beer to be bought and Netflix to be subscribed to. That’s why it sometimes makes sense to go in for a mid-range or budget handset.
The Honor 8 and its dual-camera system might be Honor’s pride and joy, but what if you want something cheaper? The guys at Honor seem to have thought of that as well, ‘cos we got two more devices alongside their flagship - the Honor 8 Smart and the Honor Holly 3.
The midrange option
The Honor 8 Smart is the new mid-range option (₹19,999) in Honor’s refreshed lineup. It’s got a metal body, a 5.2in Full HD display, a 13MP rear-facing camera (using Sony’s IMX214 sensor), an 8MP front-facing camera, 16GB storage, a 3000mAh battery, a rear-facing fingerprint sensor, and uses the Kirin 650 (with 2GB RAM) octa-core processor.
The budget option
But if you want to spend even less, there’s another option. Sitting at the budget end is the Made-in-India Holly 3 (₹9999), with a 5.5in 720p display. The Holly 3 uses the octa-core Kirin 620 processor, paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, and offers 13MP and 8MP cameras. The battery’s a 3100mAh unit and while you get 4G, you miss out on the fingerprint scanner.
