The OnePlus X will always be the only affordable smartphone that the Chinese smartphone brand ever made.
And this makes even more sense today as the new OnePlus 8 series starts from an almost shocking ₹44,999, which puts it out of reach of the original OnePlus fanbase.
But the dynamic smartphone industry is always susceptible to change. And in a recent interview with Fast Company, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau talked about future plans and also hinted at an affordable smartphone among other new OnePlus products (possibly accessories).
Indeed, this hints at the OnePlus Z, a budget smartphone that has been in the rumour mill for a while and is reportedly said to release by July this year. Back in 2015, OnePlus launched the OnePlus X in a slick metal and glass frame at ₹16,999. Here’s hoping that OnePlus retains that price tag and makes things interesting for Xiaomi, the current king of the budget segment in India.
