LeTV rebrands as LeEco and gets two new phones along

The Le Max phablet and Le 1S mid-ranger lead the LeEco charge

Along with a rebranding exercise (LeTV will now be known as LeEco), we get two new devices, with meaty specs and rather compelling price tags.

Chinese media giants LeTV might have taken some time to pack their bags and get over to our shores, but they sure have arrived with a bang - with two new devices specced-out well enough to make any smartphone buyer smile.

Up first, is the Le Max and as you’d expect from the ‘Max’ in its name, it’s a phablet, with the top-notch design and specs you’d expect from a flagship - slim bezels, an alloy frame, a 6.33in 2K screen, a Snapdragon 810, 4GB RAM, and 802.11ac WiFi. The 21MP camera at the rear is based around Sony’s IMX230 sensor and features OIS, while you get a 4UP (UltraPixel) camera for selfies. Other specs include USB Type-C.

You’ll be able to choose between 64GB and 128GB variants, which is pretty much enough to carry your music library along on your next vacation. And luckily, with a 3400mAh battery, you should have enough juice to last you a while. Want to get one? The 64GB version retails for 32,999, or get the 128GB version for 36,999.

Fantastic bang for the buck

Tasty as the Le Max seems, it’s the mid-range Le 1S that actually is a lot more compelling. And buyers seem to agree, with over one lakh registrations on Flipkart for the 1S flash sale. While only a proper review will tell whether all that enthusiasm is well-deserved, the 1S, on paper at least, seems like a lot of device for the money. Plunk down 10,999 and you get an aviation-grade alloy body, a 5.5in FHD screen, a Mediatek Helio X10 processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, a 13MP camera with PDAF, USB Type-C and what LeEco claims is the world’s fastest fingerprint scanner!
