The only surprise at the Oscars were not just the winners, the world was also greeted by the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip that took to the screens with a surprise visit. And just a few days later, the same phone became the showstopper at the Samsung Unpacked event in San Francisco. Well designed with a scratch-resistant folding glass, the Z Flip sports a Full HD+ AMOLED display that opens up to a large 6.7in wide screen in a sleek iridescent clamshell design and dressed in a mirror-finished Gold, Black and Purple. The Flip folds to a form factor that fits into your palm and will comfortably hide in your jeans pocket too. A tiny OLED display upfront shows you notifications, and it's actually a high-resolution one –  one that also helps you take quick selfies at the push of a button. The Flip is the first foldable smartie with a hole punch camera on the main folding display, which takes up 95 percent of the area once flipped open.  A new Hideaway Hinge is seen here and this is what Samsung claims makes it rather different from any flip phone you have held in the past. It's this unique Hideaway Hinge that lets you use it at a range of angles. Flex mode is a new entry here and lets you split the display into two 4in screens -- now watch videos on the top, while you control it from the bottom screen. Prices revealed were at whopping $1,380 (approx a lakh), and though it may feel pricey for just 8GB/256GB with a 3300mAh battery and dual 12MP cameras, the design just makes up for the price. Well, it's not termed as a 'Luxury Phone' for no reason - eh?
