First known as the Ssangyong Rexton, Mahindra’s Alturas G4 is here to compete with Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and other beastly brawlers in that segment. It’s powered by a new 2.2L engine able to churn out 420Nm of torque, 178BHP of power and borrows a 7-speed Gtronic automatic gearbox from Mercedes Benz. Driving on long highways just got comfier, thanks to its super luxurious quilted Nappa leather interiors, ambient lighting to set the mood, electric sunroof (especially for tongue wagglers), dual-zone automatic temperature control and a 3D 360° camera to keep an eye on all corners. Equipped with an 8in touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay for tech enthusiasts and another 7in multi-information display for vital stats. It’s loaded with a host of tech and safety features (nine airbags) and passes the Global NCAP safety test with five stars. The Mahindra Alturas G4 makes an impression at ₹26.95lacs for the 2WD and ₹29.95 lacs for the 4WD variants (prices are ex-showroom India) and will be sold from Mahindra’s new World of SUVs showrooms in Napoli Black, Pearl White, Dsat Silver, Regal Blue and Lakeside Brown colour options. We’ll bring you more from our First Drive review coming soon.
