Mid-range phones with cool-running processors? Flagships with a revolutionary twin-camera system? You’ll find ‘em all in Honor’s smartphone range
You might find it hard to believe, but yes, Honor’s been in the Indian market for just two years. But even in this rather short time, they’ve given us loads of fantastic smartphones - the kind of devices you'd lust after. Innovative tech and next-gen design, that seems to be the ticket!
A recipe for success
It’s a tasty recipe, all right, and it’s quite a simple one. Take some cutting-edge technology, add in exactly the kind of features a tech-savvy user is looking for, then put it all together in a package that looks like a million bucks. And presto, you’ve got a winner!
The journey began with the revolutionary Honor 6 Plus, which gave smartphone buyers a peek into the future. Big battery? The 6 Plus had a 3600mAh unit. Octa-core flagship CPU? You got the Kirin 925. Dual 4G? Of course. Dual rear cameras? Yup. The Honor 6 Plus was certainly ahead of its peers, and that’s something Honor has continued to focus on ever since.
For example, we got the Honor 5X earlier this year. With its pin-sharp display and feature-set, the 5X is the perfect mid-ranger. It’s the perfect size, has a vibrant screen, a fingerprint scanner that’s not just fast as lightning but is also more usable than what anyone else gives (you can use the 5X’s fingerprint scanner to launch apps and place calls directly from the lock screen), and, well, it’s plain sexy thanks to its aviation-grade alloy body!
Then you had the Holly 2 Plus, which is the ideal device for anyone who prioritises battery life. Yup, 4000mAh is enough to last you a couple of days. That was followed by the revolutionary Honor 5C. Using a cool-as-ice processor (the Kirin 650) that’s super-efficient and runs like a champ even when you are pushing it to the max, the 5C is the value-packed all-rounder of the year.
You gotta see what’s up next
So what’s on the cards next? Hmm. Let’s see - something gamers and photography nuts will absolutely love. Yup, the Honor 8 is on its way over to Indian shores, and boy, does it pack in everything for everyone. It’s sleek-n-slim and easy to use with one hand. Yet, it somehow finds space for a 3000mAh battery. And with a double-sided 2.5D glass design, it’s best described as ‘lustworthy’. You’re also gonna get a super-bright Full HD display, a whopping 4GB RAM, and, wait for it, the 64-bit Kirin 950 - a super-fast next-gen flagship processor.
But our fav parts about the Honor 8 (we did have a hard time deciding since it somehow gets everything right) are the fingerprint scanner that doubles up as a smart key, and the novel twin-camera system - which makes for some tasty low-light shots. So yup, whether you’re a gamer who cares about the best frame rates and sustained performance or a travel nut who’s looking for a phone with excellent battery life and the best photos possible, you might want to wait for the Honor 8!
