Facebook tweaks its Notes app, hoping to challenge blogging platforms

The appeal of the site is its inbuilt audience

Looks like Facebook is trying to get into the heady world on Internet publishing with its revamp of Facebook Notes. The app’s design now looks a lot like blogging mediums such as Medium, with wider dimensions and the ability to include a cover image and a clear headline.

Facebook told The Verge that it was still testing the update in an effort to “make it easier for people to create and read longer-form stories on Facebook.”

While Notes has been around for a long time, the feature does not stand out  in the site’s general layout. With the change, Facebook perhaps hopes more people will write notes and create a blogging social network similar to platforms such as Livejournal. Facebook's already signed deals with news publishers, it would make sense it would try and attract people who ordinarily would blog.
