Facebook’s desktop site gets an overhaul and redesign

And guess what, worldwide rollouts have already begun

If you’re someone who likes things to remain the same with no tweaks and changes, this is probably not good news for you. Give it a shot though, this could be your new favourite thing.

For the rest of us who do not mind a bit of change, get ready for a new way of browsing through Facebook on your desktop. First announced at F8 2019, the redesign was available as an option to a number of test users in March, but the social media giant has now confirmed that it will be available to everyone.

The new design features the usual suite of improved loading times and hassle-free navigation thanks to bigger text and simplified layouts. A big and rather welcome feature that Facebook finally included is native Dark Mode – which, let’s face it, every website and app should have by now. This overhaul is also designed to prioritise the discovery of videos, groups and gaming.

There will, of course, be many more tweaks and changes to improve the performance and the overall experience of the user, and it’s something avid users can explore in detail once the rollout is complete.
