The only thing that Internet Explorer has been good for was to download a better browser like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. Microsoft has been trying to change that perception with the release of Edge, but now they seem to have hit the mark with the Chromium Edge.
After a brief announcement and a sneak peek, older Windows users can now finally experience a whole new browser right now. The new Chromium Edge has been on the testing phase for Windows 10, and now comes to older operating systems, which effectively makes Internet Explorer obsolete.
The release on Windows 7 is a little weird as Microsoft has announced that they’re ending support for this version of Windows in January 2020, though maybe this is just a nice sendoff for Windows 7. While the Chromium Edge isn’t a full release just yet, curious users are free to test it out on not just Windows platforms, but also on MacOS. If Safari hasn’t been working out for you, maybe the Chromium Edge is for you.
If you want to try it out, you can download the Chromium Edge browser on the official Windows Blog. Hopefully, the full release will finally give Windows users a respectable browser.
