With all the flagship smartphones that have been launched recently, most of them have 5G support versions yet those versions have never launched in Malaysia before, getting only the 4G LTE versions. But it looks like things are about to change, and if you always wanted to own a 5G smartphone, you can look forward to the Vivo Nex 3 5G next week.
The Vivo Nex 3 5G is scheduled to launch on the 17th October, which will make it the first 5G smartphone to be officially available in Malaysia. This would be interesting, as no local telcos offer 5G services, so even if you do get it, you can't utilise the 5G aspect here. According to the MCMC, 5G may only be available sometime in the later half of 2020. But it may still be worth getting it in preparation.
Regardless if you can't use the 5G, there's still other aspects that may attract you. The device features a 6.89″ “waterfall” display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution on a Super AMOLED panel and has an in-display fingerprint sensor, like all Vivo smartphones. It's packed with a Snapdragon 855+ processor that can be configured with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage.
In terms of camera, it comes with a triple-camera setup with a 64MP f/1.8 main shooter, a 13MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and a 13MP f/2.48 telephoto shooter. There's also a 16MP f/2.09 pop-up selfie shooter, just like the original Nex. Just like what was seen at the VIVO APEX 2019, the device doesn’t have a volume rocker and instead has features virtual buttons called “Touch Sense” that also offers haptic feedback. It has a big 4,500mAh battery that supports Vivo’s 44W Super FlashCharge technology via USB-C.
We will be finding out more on the price and what version Malaysia will get at the launch next week. In China, the Vivo Nex 5G is priced at CNY5698 (~MYR3343) for the 8GB RAM version and CNY6198 (~MYR3637) for the 12GB RAM version.
