Spec-packed OnePlus 2 equals a threat to future flagship phones

This might be one of the most impressive smartphones we’ve seen in a while

At a fittingly futuristic VR launch that just concluded, the Chinese company formally introduced their fabled prodigy - the OnePlus 2.

Stats, stat? Sure thing. Aside from the 4GB RAM on board, the OnePlus 2 also comes with options of 16GB or 64GB of internal storage, and 5.5-inches of 1080p screen.

The OnePlus 2 has also got its eye on the prize with a formidable 13MP camera equipped with sharp-shooting laser autofocus and a 1.3 micron pixel sensor to handle shots in tricky low light.

Forward-thinking

Aside from the flagship-status specs above, the OnePlus 2 is packing some future-proof features in the form of a USB-C port, fingerprint sensor, and a reversible USB connector for hassle-free plugging in in the dark.

What’s unusual is also the choice to feature a physical Alert Slider for users to switch easily between the preferred type of notifications without having to remove the phone from the pocket. Interesting.

All of the specs mentioned come at a steal. The 16GB will be going for US$329 (RM1260) and the 64GB for US$389 (RM1490), about half of what we're used to paying for our flagship phones. Best thing is, it’s coming to Southeast Asia in Q4 this year. Now we just have to devise a strategy for that tricky invite-only purchasing system.

Have no doubt, the OnePlus 2 is definitely coming to Malaysia. Thank Maxis for that, because a post from its Twitter account asked us to stay tuned on how to secure an exclusive invite to get the flagship killer phone
