After days of leaks, the Oppo F5 is official and it still packs a few surprises.
On paper, the phone's specs seem pretty mid-range. It relies on an octa-core MT6763T processor with a Mali G71 MP2 GPU, with options for either 4GB or 6GB RAM, alongside 32GB and 64GB storage choices as well as a 3200mAh battery.
The screen is a 6in Full HD TFT with a 20MP front camera; a 16MP camera is in the back. The latter has a wider aperture of f/1.8 while the front camera's is f/2.0. There's also dual-SIM support and three confirmed colour options: gold, red and black.
While it's only a TFT screen, the display is pretty much edge-to-edge with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It's the camera that's the star here. It allows portrait mode selfies (basically adding bokeh to the back) using a special AI mode to enhance over 200 facial points detected by the camera. It also allows you to unlock your phone with your face - pretty decent for a mid-range phone.
Price-wise, it starts at 15,990 pesos (RM1,310). Which makes the Oppo F5 this year's mid-range bargain so far - if you're into selfies, that is.
