Xiaomi made the audacious move to launch its Mi Mix 2 phone just a day before Apple's iPhone event and that decision seems not to have hurt it. Since reservations opened on its launch day, the company has already racked up more than 700,000 reservations in just two days.
Not even on sale yet
What's also interesting is that the reservations were only available on the Mi Mall, with no news whether other outlets would accept reservations.
Of course reservations/registrations of interest don't always translate to sales, but they are always a good indication of the level of popularity a model has.
With the Mix 2 sale happening on 15 September, there's a real possibility Xiaomi might not be able to meet all the demand on the launch day. As it's only been two days, there's even a likelihood that actual demand might reach a million or more.
Xiaomi's sequel to the original Mix offers both sweet specs and a trendy design while not being overly expensive for a design marvel as well as flagship specs. Here's hoping it makes its way here too.
