It was a sad day when Microsoft Lumia phones had to exit the market, but the reality was that Android and iOS dominance meant very little space for Windows Mobile.
But for people nostalgic for the Lumia era, HMD Global has hinted that it's bringing at least some Lumia functionality to the new Nokia phones via the camera app.
Chief product officer Juho Sarvikas acknowledged the upcoming Lumia Camera update on Twitter, confirming the revamp. A user had Tweeted about the Lumia Camera interface, with Sarvikas replying, "I agree with your assessment."
The old Nokia Lumia 1020 camera app was notable for its wealth of manual controls that allowed tweaks to ISO, white balance and shutter speed among others.
As the Nokia 8 sports Carl Zeiss dual-lenses, an upgraded camera app would be a boost to the phone, which - along with the other recently launched Nokia phones - will also be getting the Android Oreo update.
So if the Nokia phones' cameras were making you hesitate about picking them up, this software tweak might appeal both to you and people who miss the old Lumia phones.
