What do you get when you cross a Canon 80D with a pocket travel camera? Okay, it's not a classic punchline, but the Canon G1X Mark III (£1149, RM6435 due November, canon.com)  is the promising-if-unhilarious answer. Packing the same 24MP APS-C sensor as its DSLR cousin, it adds an f/2.8-5.6 lens with 3x optical zoom and an electronic viewfinder, making it a highly tempting travel camera. It might even be up for a trip to the Scottish highlands, thanks to weathersealing that Canon claims makes it impervious to dust and moisture. And with a body that's only 51mm thick and weighs in at 398g, you'll be able to slip it into your coat pocket if the rain goes sideways anyway.
