Meanwhile, at the Mercedes event with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg
On the topic of food, music and holidays, Lewis Hamilton admits, “No fish and chips.” Shocking revelation from a Brit. Music, you ask? Between Jay Z and Little Wayne, he opts for Jay Z. As for holidays, a trip in the mountain does the trick.
That steering wheel…
Fact: Lewis Hamilton had a hand in the design. “We pretty much designed the steering wheel. We sat and drew the shape of the steering wheel, and it has less buttons and switches,” said Hamilton.
And that’s a sign of what both Rosberg and Hamilton have to do this year - to be more independent. “This year, we have to make more decisions on our own. The team can’t teach us too many things, like how to consume less fuel,” said Rosberg.
About the circuits…
Street or track circuit? “Singapore,” said Nico Rosberg enthusiastically, followed by cheers from the crowd of supporters. But if he had to choose one track to race forever, that’ll be Monaco. “It’s my home, and the track is unbelievable and challenging,” added Rosberg. Macau is Hamilton’s choice, who cited it as a harder version of the Monaco track because it’s “tight on the sections and street circuits are more fun”.
To be or not to be…
A race engineer or team boss? “Team boss,” said Rosberg almost immediately. The man sure has high ambitions, even higher than his current position. Another choice for Rosberg to make - entering and exiting the car from the left or right, perhaps for luck. “No preference, I just enter and exit from the same side,” said Rosberg.
All F1 drivers are equal
Characteristics of an F1 driver? “Fearless, committed and fast,” the last point was said with a slight chuckle by Hamilton and greeted by laughters from the crowd.
