6 things to do this Star Wars Day

Wondering how to be one with the Force this 4 May? Here's a few ideas

It's been a Star Wars bonanza recently, what with the recent release of Rogue One as well as the massive celebrations over in Orlando to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the series.

Still,  let's not forget that official day of days for Star Wars fans everywhere: 4 May or Star Wars Day. Here's a list of cool Star Wars stuff you can see and do to entertain your inner Star Wars fan before The Last Jedi comes out.

1. Join the Star Wars Malaysia Fan CLub

These guys have been around for awhile now, organising events on a regular basis and can often be seen at local movie premieres and Star Wars-themed events.

To sign up, just attend one of their gatherings, such as the one happening 6 May: 'Revenge of the Sixth' at Jaya One, Level G. You'll even get a membership card, with discounts at selected toy outlets. Just pay RM60 to register and RM10 yearly after that for renewal.

Check out the group's activities on Facebook here.

2. Check out the latest Uniqlo Star Wars tees

Uniqlo's been a great place for Star Wars-themed getups and its latest collaboration with artists James Jarvis, Kevin Lyons and Geoff McFetridge has produced some mighty cool tees.

Check out the special Star Wars Artist Collection on their site, priced at RM59.90 per t-shirt.

3. Stock up on Star Wars comics at Kinokuniya

On 4 May, Kinokuniya is having quite a few promotions going on: all Star Wars comics as well as merchandise are 20 per cent off, purchase with purchase (meaning you have to buy something alongside your Star Wars merchandise to qualify). There's also a comics promotion going on from 4-7 May, with deals on selected comics, as well as free comics given out on 6 May.

If you can't make it to the store, there's still an online webstore sale going on from 2-4 May where all Kinokuniya Privilege Card members can get 15 per cent off all online purchases, non-members receiving 10 per cent off instead.

4. Rent or buy Star Wars movies to watch at home

Thanks to the Internet, you can now just have your own (legal) movie marathon at home. All of the Star Wars films are available for either rent or purchase via Apple's iTunes store or Google Play.

To save you the annoyance of having to search through either service's catalogue, get the links and pricing for all the flicks right here on this Just Watch page. We suggest you get some popcorn today for your binge-fest tomorrow.

5. Get some sweet Star Wars figurines

Toys R Us is a great place to stock up on Star Wars merchandise and toys, with selected offers on some Star Wars mechandise. Bags, water bottles, Legos and of course, action figures can be found both in-store and online. Here's a link to make your Star Wars shopping easier.

If you're more of a Gundam fan, Gundam.my has some of the best prices of Gundam Star Wars kits. Check out the 1/12 scale model of Kylo Ren as well as this sweet replica of Poe's X-Wing fighter.

The official Lego store is also having a 50 per cent off sale on selected Star Wars sets, which you can check out online.

6. Plan a Star Wars road trip

South is the best direction to go for your Lego fix as Legoland is having a host of Star Wars-themed activities.

Or you could journey to Singapore where a three-day Star Wars Day festival is being hosted at the Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay with a special Star Wars Day Run happening on 6 May. It might be too late to join, but it would still be a blast to watch.
