Take a C-Class, hand it over to AMG, and say ‘please’. That’s a recipe for madness. A very nice form of madness.
There’s yet another mad saloon out there that’s taking the fight to supercars. We have to admit, there might be a point to this. After all, why would you want to buy a cramped, low-slung supercar when you can have a far more practical saloon that’s just as quick, and more importantly, achieves heart-in-your-mouth speeds while not making you look like a Premier League footballer playing hooky?
At the heart of the matter sits a 4-litre, biturbo V8. With figures of 510hp and 700Nm, it’s not surprising Merc claims the C63S can cross the 100 km/h mark in 4 seconds. That’s fast. But a lot of credit also goes to the Speedshift MCT 7-speed transmission and its various driving modes. Wanna waft along? There’s a mode for that. In a hurry to get to that new restaurant before the snooty maître d' gives your table to someone else. There’s a mode for that. Open road ahead with not a soul in sight? You betcha, there’s a mode for that!
All that’s part of the AMG Performance Package, but that’s not all you get – there’s AMG’s Ride Control suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, ceramic brakes and a performance exhaust system that lets you make some noise even when you’re too slow to really hear the V8 in all its glory.
Inside, there’s a choice of various trims – ashwood, glass-fibre, aluminium and carbon-fibre. Pair that with AMG seats finished in nappa leather, and the heads-up display, and you’d be mad not to spend every weekend driving out of town.
Now, you’d be right in wondering, “Just how much will all of this cost?” Plenty, it seems – the Mercedes-Benz AMG C63S has an ex-showroom price of ₹1.30 crore in Delhi! We’ve already started saving...
