They also estimate that the batteries should last a week, assuming that it took a reading every 15 minutes.</p> <p>The idea of the TZOA is extremely attractive, if the execution works. Before, such measurements had been the exclusive domain of labs and the only time we ever know about these readings (which aren&rsquo;t exactly to the minute) is when we check for PSI readings on the telly during haze season. Little did we think that it could be this portable and affordable.</p> <p>It also doesn&rsquo;t look half bad either, and is slightly customisable with replaceable face plates. She said that smartwatches had inherently different functions &ndash; pointing out users are unlikely to wear a smartwatch to bed, in comparison to a smartband.</p> <p>What else is there to look forward to? Chan said Fitbit is in the midst of negotiations to launch crossover products with fashion designers and lifestyle brands.</p> <p>Fitbit will have to work hard in Asia to justify the price tag on its wearables, especially considering the more affordable alternatives from Xiaomi and Lenovo.</p> <p><strong>READ MORE:</strong> <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/fitbit">The lowdown on Fitbit</a></p> <p>[Source: <a href="http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2014/11/26/fitbit-gears-up-for-asia-expansion/" target="_blank">WSJ</a>]</p> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-hcmvideofield-video field-field-brightcove-video"> <div class="field-label">Video ID/URL:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="video-wrapper youtube-player-wrapper"> <iframe width="640" height="385" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/s9Y_mrDHpyw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-make-full-width"> <div class="field-label">Make full width:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Do not make full width </div> </div> </div> </fieldset> </fieldset> http://www.stuff.tv/my/fitbit/fitbit-tracking-its-way-more-asian-countries-2015/news#comments Fitbit Health and fitness Sport Wearable tech Thu, 27 Nov 2014 08:33:41 +0000 Erna Mahyuni 1454089 at http://www.stuff.tv Sony planning smartwatch with e-paper face and strap http://www.stuff.tv/my/sony/sony-planning-e-paper-smartwatch/news <div class="field field-type-text field-field-standfirst"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> New wearable will let you change the design of your wristwear without faffing about swapping straps </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-enable-hero"> <div class="field-label">Enable hero:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Enable full width image </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-main-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_main_image" width="604" height="453" title="Sony planning smartwatch with e-paper face and strap " alt="Sony planning smartwatch with e-paper face and strap " src="http://images.cdn.stuff.tv/sites/stuff.tv/files/images/news/sony-smartwatch-3_0_0.jpg?1417049056" /> </div> </div> </div> <p>Sony may be <a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/playstation/sony-planning-fewer-smartphones-and-tvs-after-falling-sales/news" target="_blank">stripping back its product line-up</a>, but it&#39;s still finding new things to do.</p> <div class="field field-type-userreference field-field-byline"> <div class="field-label">Byline:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/my/users/stephen-graves" title="View user profile.">Stephen Graves</a> </div> </div> </div> <fieldset class="content-multigroup-group-sections"><legend>News Section</legend><fieldset class="content-multigroup-wrapper content-multigroup-0"><div class="field field-type-number-integer field-field-section-paginate"> <div class="field-label">Paginate on this section:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Don't paginate </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-body"> <div class="field-label">Body:&nbsp;</div> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <p>Sony isn&#39;t the first company to hit on the idea; Japanese company&nbsp;<a href="http://www.stuff.tv/my/playstation/sony-planning-fewer-smartphones-and-tvs-after-falling-sales/news" target="_blank">Fashion Entertainments</a>&nbsp;is working on a watch with an e-ink face and strap (though it doesn&#39;t have smartwatch functionality).
