Sky teams up with Zeebox for augmented TV

Overhauled Sky+ apps incoming – and you'll be able to use your iPhone or iPad as a remote

Sky has announced an exclusive partnership with social TV app Zeebox, which will see the TV platform integrating Zeebox's tech into its own apps.

For those of you who haven't heard of Zeebox, it's a second-screen app that delivers social media feeds and "zeetags" while you watch.

Zeetags appear in real-time during a programme, and can be used to search for information on programmes – providing links to everything from the clothes that people are wearing in TV shows to ingredients for recipes in cookery programmes as they appear on screen.

Sky's deal with Zeebox will see zeetags baked into the existing Sky+ and Sky Go apps. Expect to see an overhauled Sky+ app that lets you manage your Sky+ recording remotely – and which lets you use your iPad or iPhone as a remote control for your Sky+ box.
