Just because they could – scent of MacBook Pro

What if you could bottle the smell of a freshly unwrapped Apple device? One for dedicated fanboys only

Apple perfume, are you kidding?

What? Don’t you rub your iPhone under each armpit every morning to try and attract the opposite sex? You’ve been missing out. The smell of a just-unboxed iPad can be one of life’s great joys and that’s why a bunch of Australian artists have bottled it.

I don’t want to splash tiny bits of iPad on my face.

Lucky then that Air Aroma and the Aussies involved – Gavn Bell, Jarrah de Kuijer and Simon McGlinn – chose the MacBook Pro’s scent to recreate. They sent a still-boxed Apple laptop to a fragrance lab in France who mixed together some perfume samples to get the exact right smell.

Should Tommy Hilfiger be worried?

Not just yet, the MacBook Pro smell was used in an exhibition, sniffed out by 9to5mac, and prices or a release date of the official MacBook Pro aftershave are nowhere to be seen. Still, something for Tim Cook to think about.
