Original iPad prototype was fat and made from white plastic

The first iPad prototype was a giant unwieldy slab compared to the final version. Click on through for a little slice of iHistory

Pictures of Apple's first iPad prototype created between 2002-2004 have hit the interwebs, showing off a rather chunky white plastic affair which is a million miles away from the iPad we've come to know and love.

Measuring in at just under an inch thick with a white plastic iBook-esque finish, the 035 iPad prototype still manages to please the eyes, though we wouldn't fancy lugging it around on our morning commute.

Drink in this little dose of iHistory and join us in hoping for a glimpse of the original iPhone prototype sometime soon. That we'd love to see.
