Google console, smartwatch, Android laptop and Nexus Q on their way to you

Watch out Ouya: the big G is planning a hardware assault on the living room

Google is working on a console, a smartwatch, an Android laptop and a new Nexus Q – according to the Wall Street Journal‘s sources.

At least one of these products could ship as soon as this Autumn. All of them will be designed and marketed by Google itself to take on the likes of OuyaGameStick, and a rumoured Apple TV gaming update.

Google smarts

Google is also working on its next operating system, Key Lime Pie, which is aimed at lower-end smartphones in developing countries. The OS will also appear on an HP laptop codenamed “K release” which is set to tackle Windows laptops head on.

This new OS will reportedly be optimised for wearable devices – and with the Sony SmartWatch 2, the Pebble Smartwatch, a Samsung smartwatch and a rumoured Apple iWatch all fighting for space on your wrist, Google has a lot of competition. And we have a lot to save up for. [WSJ via TechCrunch]
