CES 2015: Talking sexy wearables with Withings CEO Cédric Hutchings

We meet Withings' Activité Pop, the 'first true wearable', with the French health and wellness tech wizard

All this week, Stuff is running interviews on the International News Stage at CES 2015, the biggest and craziest technology show in the world.

Fashion is as crucial as functionality for wearable technology, but Withings is one of the few companies that has managed to make a wearable gadget that’s genuinely desirable. It just announced the Activité Pop at CES 2015, a more affordable follow-up to last year’s Activité that keeps the functionality but loses the high-end materials to yield a beautiful watch that’s also an activity tracker.

Will Findlater (@willfindlater) talks to Cédric Hutchings, CEO of Withings and mastermind of the Activité, about the device, where it fits in the Withings ‘ecosystem’ of connected health gadgets and why companies should focus on great products rather than jumped-up trends (*cough* Internet of Things *cough*).

About

Will is a contributing editor and ex-Editor-in-Chief of Stuff. He's been here a while: since 2004, in fact. Things have changed a fair bit since then, although he still gets ribbed for his ongoing respect for 'pioneering' Windows Mobile PDAs. He lives in hope that a new gadget will some day emerge that excites him as much as his Amiga did when he was nine. (The iPhone came pretty close.)
