Live Xbox One game streaming comes to Windows 10

Microsoft is bringing game hubs and avatars to PCs

For you lucky Windows 10 testers, you’ll know have the chance to test out Microsoft’s new game streaming update to Windows 10’s Xbox app, along with three other new features.

The update, detailed on Major Nelson’s blog, says that users will be able to stream Xbox One games onto their PCs through their home network. If you’re terrified about the effects of that large increase in data, don’t panic – Microsoft says it has taken that into account and will have it sorted before it’s released to the general public.

Those of you who noticed the addition of game hubs to Xbox Live on your Xbox One will be glad to know that they’re being brought over as well. You’ll be able to follow your leaderboards and your favourite clips from your games, all from your Xbox app.

We don’t know about you, but we miss the good ol’ days of being able to edit our avatars on Xbox 360, so we’re pleased that Microsoft has decided to reintroduce that to the updated app. And finally, for you shortcut lovers, pressing the ‘Windows’ key and ‘G’ brings up game capture (or, if you want, you can quite easily change the binding).

Microsoft made a big announcement yesterday that the Windows 10 update for Xbox One will be coming “after this summer”. If you want a more specific time-frame than that, you’re going to have to wait for the big M to reveal more.
