What is an iPhone? The iPhone is a touchscreen smartphone made by Apple. It was announced on 9 January 2007 by Apple CEO Steve Jobs and went on sale in the USA on 29 June 2007. Famous for its slick, touch-controlled iOS operating system and the range of cheap, high-quality downloadable apps (applications) from the App Store, it revolutionised the mobile phone market.
