While the PSP 4000 is as good as confirmed, most gadget fiends expected Sony to go with the same classic design as their best–selling handheld. But if sources are right, the Big S could be about give the DSi something to think about later this year.
According to vg247.com, their man on the inside has said Sony is working on a new slideout design, hiding the buttons behind a gorgeous screen. This "complete aesthetic overhaul" has been pegged for a December release, perfect for hungry gamers ahead of Christmas.
There's no word on whether it'll come packing multitouch, as rumoured last month. But you can bet Sony will be going all out to bring down the DS and its new DSi sibling.
A Sony spokesman has said that they, "...have nothing to say and they do not comment on rumour and speculation. These stories have been circulating for a while, so we'll see what happens at the trade shows in the summer." Fingers crossed for E3 then!
