Samsung confirms Galaxy Note 4 redesign and Android Wear watch for later this year

Samsung has confirmed that the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 will arrive with a ‘new form factor’.

Speaking to Reuters, Samsung’s senior vice president of product strategy Yoon Han-Ki didn’t provide any more information on the company’s next generation of super phablet, but we expect a radical change from the current Note 3‘s faux leather back.

While we could see a move towards a dimpled grippy plastic back like the one found on the Galaxy S5, we’re hoping for a more premium metal build to match the Note 4’s powerful innards.

Han-Ki also confirmed that Samsung will release an Google Android Wear-based smartwatch later this year, so we’d hold off on that Gear 2 purchase unless you’re particularly desperate to smarten up you wrists as soon as possible.

Not only that, but Samsung will also apparently release two Tizen phones before the end of July.

Tizen OS is Samsung’s attempt to break free of google’s shackles by ditching Android and going it alone, and its Gear 2 and Gear Fit smartwatches are the first products released to the public that run the linux-based OS.

The Gear 2 saw a noticeable improvement in battery life compared to the original Android-powered Gear, so the new Tizen phones could provide similar battery life thanks to Samsung’s software and hardware optimisation.
