New Samsung Galaxy Note 5 leaked shots reveal more about S-Pen

You can probably forget about that fabled auto-eject for Samsung's stylus

Another day, another set of leaked Galaxy Note 5 pictures spilling into the web.

These shots show what appears to be a retail-ready example of Samsung’s next phablet in gold livery and a white press-on protective case (possibly third-party rather than Samsung-made).

There are a couple of AT&T apps visible on the home screen, suggesting this is running a finalised – or very near-finalised – version of the phablet’s software.

But aside from giving us all yet more images of what’s shaping up to be a very exciting phone, this latest leak seems significant for what it reveals about the S-Pen, Samsung’s classy smart stylus. There has been some speculation that the S-Pen would feature an auto-eject mechanism to propel it effortlessly out of its holder, but the images suggest that isn’t the case, and that you’ll still need to pry the stylus out with a fingernail. Ah well.

We can expect to see the Galaxy Note 5 officially launched very soon – perhaps as soon as mid-August. Samsung has in recent years announced its Note models at Berlin’s IFA conference in early September, but this year seems set to break with tradition and reveal the phablet at a totally separate event.
