Pentax launches Optio LS465 compact

Feeling fashionably fickle? Swappable front panel inserts let you change the look of Pentax's tiny sub-£100 camera

The compact camera equivalent of slouching, the Pentax Optio LS465 keeps things cool with a 4.6cm low profile and serious specs squeezed into its skinny body. Making the rest of the pack look like try-hards, don’t be fooled by the ‘style’ extrerior – this lightweight (104g) snapper packs in a 16MP sensor, 5x optical zoom and a 28mm wide-angle lens.

And we can’t deny it does look pretty sleek. OK, maybe Amethyst Purple (or Ruby Pink) isn’t for everyone – but the black edition should do the trick while saving precious pocket space. Going after fickle young photographers, the LX465 also lets you chop and change its front panel with 10 acrylic inserts.

At just £90, you might not expect much in the way of camera smarts from the Optio LX465 – but you get full HD video recording at 30fps (and in 16:9) with a dedicated movie button and shake reduction mode, plus a bunch of filters like Toy Camera, Retro and Miniature. It’s not available until mid-June – but we’ll test out this hipster-baiting compact before then, so look out for a full Stuff.tv review.
