All-new T-Mobile MDA Compact IV looks familiar

The eagle-eyed among you may spot a certain similarity between the new touchscreen HTC Diamond announced this morning and the new touchy–feely MDA Compact IV that T-Mobile has coming our way this summer.

Full touchscreen, packing Touch Flo tech? Check. HSDPA, Windows Mobile 6.1, a 3.1MP snapper and in–built GPS? Check. 4GB of on–board storage? Check.

Well, fact fans, that’s because the new T-Mobile handset is the same device as the HTC Touch Diamond in all but name – HTC has long produced handsets for the mobile company, eschewing their own branding for the T-Mobile moniker.

Whichever name you prefer, both are more tooled-up than the iPhone. The Touch comes exclusively to Orange in the summer, while the Compact comes free on T-Mobile’s Flext 50 plan from July, complete with 7-day Co-Pilot trial.
