This internet-connected poster warns you about the incoming rain

But at least it looks nice while doing it

Long gone are the days when you had to rely on Michael Fish for the weather forecast. Between Alexa and Dark Sky notifications on your phone, there’s no escaping news of the imminent February drizzle. And now, thanks to the Typified Weather Poster, meteorology has never looked so stylish. Currently doing the business on Kickstarter, it combines a screen printed poster and a small Wi-Fi-enabled computer, lighting up icons with E Ink at 8am, 12pm, 4pm and 8pm intervals. The poster only displays the forecast for each day, so you can’t check Saturday’s weather on a Wednesday, but it’s one less thing you have to look at a glowing smartphone for. Pre-order for $189 and you get two free years of forecasts.

About

I'm fascinated by all things tech, but if you were going to leave me on a desert island, I'd probably ask for my Nintendo Switch, a drone, and a pair of noise-cancelling cans to block out the relentless seagull racket. When I'm not on Stuff duty you'll probably find me subscribing to too many podcasts, playing too many video games, or telling anyone who will listen that Spurs are going to win a trophy this season.

Areas of expertise

Video games, VR, smartwatches, headphones, smart speakers, bizarre Kickstarter campaigns
