Rumour Mill – iPhone 5 out September
The Apple rumour mill is a vast space filled with plenty of shouting voices. Occasionally a quiet word can be heard from someone who shouldn’t be talking and you sit up to listen. In this case Bloomberg has spoken with two inside sources that can’t be named. These suicidal Jobs traitors, or agents of the Steve, have confirmed an 8MP camera and the same A5 processor as in the iPad 2 as definite iPhone 5 upgrades, all in an iPhone 4 shaped body. We already expected the September pre-Christmas release date but now it’s all but certain.

woop woop i cant wait. but what i want to know is this the US or worldwide release. will we see the Iphone 5 on uk carriers in 2011. or will be 2012 the year.

i keep hearing how the new iphone is going to be the same size as the old one, which is a dissapointment, ive seen the LG & samsung phones & they are alot bigger than the new iphone which is better for browsing, so i hope it is going to be a little bit bigger, otherwise i don't think i'll bother buying it.

@bearwoman - there is also talk of a slightly bigger screen on the same sized body. They're kind of limited to that though - making the screen more than about 0.5" larger on the diagonal and keeping the same aspect ratio means increasing the width of the body. There's more scope for increasing height as there is more space to the top and bottom of the screen (portrait orientation) than left and right, and anyway making the iPhone taller isn't a big problem (since slight differences in shape and the addition of front facing camera etc. mean each iteration normally needs a new case anyway) but making it more than minimally wider would cause havoc for a huge installed base of docks.

Also, if you want a big screen for browsing, get a tablet or get an Android phone if that suits you. The iPhone's dimensions are pretty much perfect for me - much bigger and it wouldn't fit so nicely into a pocket.
