motorola droid razr launched revealed

Motorola has lifted the curtains off its latest smartphone to reveal the RAZR (or Droid RAZR in the States) – a device whose moniker is the only thing it has in common with the original 2004 flip phone. Here's all you need to know.

RAZR – Built to last

Moto is touting the RAZR as the world’s thinnest smartphone at only 7.1mm thick – and its Kevlar construction should ensure maximum toughness at a lighter weight. The RAZR also features Splash Guard, a nano-coating that protects internal components from potentially nasty splashes.

RAZR – Killer screen

The RAZR is rocking the world’s first 4.3in Super AMOLED qHD Gorilla Glass display with a 960x540 resolution, which we expect will look stunning in our hands on later today.

RAZR – Under the hood

Although the RAZR's not launching with Ice Cream Sandwich, Gingerbread should run buttery-smooth on the RAZR thanks to its 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM and LTE, 16GB of storage (plus an extra 16GB on a microSD card) round off the spec sheet rather nicely.

RAZR – Imaging

Motorola's packed an 8MP camera and 1080p video capture into the RAZR – which should more than take care of the needs of casual snappers and movie-makers alike.

RAZR – Large battery

The RAZR’s 1800mAh battery is said to offer 12.5 hours of talk time with 8.9 hours of video playback before needing to re-juice – welcome news to power users who are used to smartphone batteries hitting the red mark long before the end of the day.

RAZR – Webtop

Like the Atrix and Atrix 2, the RAZR supports Motorola’s Webtop environment, offering a second desktop-like experience including a Firefox web browsing experience and Lapdock accessory compatibility.

RAZR – Release date

Clove UK has confirmed that it expects the UK variant of the RAZR to hit our shores on November 1st and it’s currently priced at £455.
